The big draw will be Monet’s water lilies, painted in the Giverny garden, which he called his “most beautiful work of art”. He became obsessed with the interplay of water and light, involving the viewer completely with his canvasses that are given over entirely to water, leaves and reflections. There are about 250 in his water lily series, only a few of which are on show here.
