London is celebrating the Chinese New Year this Sunday (21st February). The celebrations will transform Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and London's Chinatown to welcome in the Year of the Tiger in spectacular style.... with Chinese arts and entertainment from international and home-grown artists, plus food firecrackers and fireworks. Chinese New Year dates are determined by the luni-solar Chinese calendar, which means the date changes every year. This year Chinese New Year fell on 14 February ( St.Valentine's Day, that's right!)
The following video was made two years ago. It shows how New Year's Day is celebrated by the Chinese community in London as welll as by the English. Everybody likes attending these celebrations because of the veriety of colours and the different traditions, food, dances and music. Watch it and you'll see for yourself!
