India's Himalayan state of Sikkim is making efforts to save the rare red panda from extinction.
The Himalayan Zoological Park (HZP), Gangtok, has embarked on a programme for the conservation and breeding of the endangered species.
The red panda, which is much smaller than its closest relative the giant panda, is found across the Himalayan region but numbers are thought to be in decline due to loss of habitat.
